I look out my window and what do I see?






Yep, this is a pile of boards Justin has sawed with his new saw mill. He stacks them to 'dry' outside our front door because it has a covering over it. I never truly understood this man's passion for wood until now. He is wonderful and talented.

He's Got Wings

Justin loves snowmobiling. He grew up at the base of the Uintah mountains and for recreation his family always went sledding. When we were dating he had one. Then he sold it. I now wear the token of the snowmobile on my left ring finger. Yep, the revenue from its sale was used to purchase a little diamond ring that I love. Well, last week Justin had the opportunity to go play with his Dad, brothers and family friend on 2010 Ski Doo XP Sleds. He had a blast. I always slightly worry and here is why.

All I can say though is, "What a Stud!"

The books I have been reading

The last 13 weeks of life for Justin and I has been a great experience. It has been full of early mornings, late evenings, FFA activities, work, and alot of reading.

Justin's favorite reads for the last few months would be Scriptures, Top Tech Books for work, and Accounting 2010 (He has had a lot of fun with that class).

I have been reading and learning how to truly study and gain information from a variety of text books. Because of our dilligent effort to expand our knowledge, our home has books dropped in every location almost every day.

Here is the collection my nose has been buried in and why.


This would be the Horticulture and Livestock text I taught out of for Greenhouse and Animal Science. We became very good friends as I built powerpoints, double checked my previous understanding of the reproductive system, and wrote lesson plans.



These were second hand references for the Greenhouse, Animal Science, and Ag Biology classes. I checked them out from the ASTE library. You know you are serious when you study from multiple texts. :)



These are the books that kept me going.I am so grateful for the scriptures and know there is power in reading them.



The large blue one is a biography on Ardeth G. Kapp. What an awesome women. She also had the opportunity to student teach. I read a majority of this while I was sick in February. The other one "The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society," was the book of the month for book club. I highly recommend it to any one. That was a challenge, staying up on the reading for book club, but so fun. This month is Jane Eyre.



This isn't a book, but rather a publication. I have the wonderful opportunity to teach Relief Society on the fourth Sunday each month. I have had many hours studying and developing lessons from the words of the Prophets.


I am now excited to have time to finish reading the biography of Ardeth G. Kapp, Gone With the Wind, Jane Eyre, and anything else that catches my fancy. I may even head to the library and check books out. I have a renewed appreciation of the written word and am grateful books are so accessible for our learning.

How Much Wood Could A Would Chuck Chuck?

The logger in Justin just will not let him rest. He has been hard at work this Semester on his Senior Project. Here is the finished product. We will walk you through how it works, step by step.

Step 1-
Load the Log




Step 2-
Set and clamp the log securely in place (we want straight boards!)


Step 3-
SAW!!!


Step 4-
Rotate Log 1/4 Turn


Step 5-
Saw and Repeat


Step 6-
Make Boards




Always wear proper eye and hearing protection and do not try without supervision of a logger/sawyer. That wood is going to build a table.

Life As We Know It.... For right now

For the past nine weeks Justin and I have embarked on the final chapter of our lives when both of us will be in college.(that is what we are planning anyways) It has probably been the hardest semester we have had to face yet. I am currently student teaching at Sky View High School, Go Bobcats! and Justin has been continuing school and working at Agri- Service to keep the roof over our heads.

These last few months have consisted of

5:30 a.m.- Ruth gets up
6:13 a.m.- Justin gets up and makes breakfast& cleans off car for Ruth (Yes, he is a keeper, and I love him very much!)
6:35 a.m. Ruth leaves for School
7:30 a.m.- Justin goes to accounting class
8:00-5:00 p.m.- I'm not really sure all that he does, and I hang out at the high school working on lesson plans, grading papers, etc.
6:30 p.m.- Dinner (anything quick and easy)
7-9 p.m.- More lesson planning, while Justin does homework or wathces a movie
10 p.m.- Bed time

I used to think it was bad when I had a 7:30 a.m. class I had to be to. Now I realize, that was like cake, I could wear my sweats to class and pull my hair into a pony tail. The real world looks pretty rough, I never thought I would say this, but I just might miss college.

It has been a great semester of laughs, ups, and downs, strength and endurance building, a trip to Las Vegas (that is a great story for a different post) and helped us grow closer together.We are looking forward to graduation in May for me and Justin's in December.

AHHHH to Blogging!

Blogging.... It is trendy, it is cute, and it is fun; but it is difficult for me to figure out! If anyone has any suggestions or could offer me a tutorial on all the secrets to making your blog cute, that would be great!

Anyways, School has commenced for the Fall thus making my life consist of classes, work, homework, sleep and repeat. It is fun, exciting (because it is my last year and Justin is getting close as well) and alot of hard work. I think it will be worth it too.:)
I am doing clinicals right now at Sky View High School because that is where I will be student teaching. It has been fun to obersve other's methods of classroom management and teaching, but I am realizing that I will soon have to show off my own and I pray that they are effective.

Well, that is it with us. We don't have a digital camera right now (it is lost) so the posts may be fairly boring for a while. Hopefully we find it.Happy Fall! I can't wait to carve a pumpkin or even better head to Oregon for the Sugar Beet Harvest!

Memorial Day

I have always enjoyed the Memorial Day Holiday, not only because it is extra days off from work, but in my family(like most) it has always been tradition to take flowers to the graves and talk a little about what the people were like. Well, on Sunday evening coming back from a great missionary farewell of one of our dear friends, I was talking to my Mother who was explaining the plans of the rest of my family for the weekend. As we talked we began to discuss our ancestors and my mother announced to me that I had a great great grandmother buried in the Logan cemetery. I was excited when I heard this news because I love going and visiting the graves. Since it was Sunday afternoon, and I had no other flowers than two voluntary tulips in my yard, I cut them and Justin and I were on a hunt to find the headstone of Lillian Pribble. After searching for 45 minutes, Justin stumbled upon it by chance (he assures me he was inspired) and we both celebrated.

I later found out that evening as I was visiting with my Grandma Lasley (Family History Buff) that this Grandma was left by her husband with six children to feed. What a strong women she must have been. I was sincerely touched that Sunday as I took time to reflect on all those who have gone on before to make this world a better place for us today. I hope I can do the same for the future generations to come.
