Happy at Home

This was a rare morning over a month ago when I had woken up before my girls and was getting ready for the day. I think Justin was out of town and so Natalie had slept in my bed that night. This was a moment of gratitude for me as I looked at Natalie sleeping so peacefully and Jenna over in the corner also sleeping. I could tell they both just felt safe and happy. My heart swelled with gratitude for a moment as I thought about how hard Justin and I have worked to create a place where our children feel safe and happy, and I could see that they were! I believe children deserve to have that, and in today's world it isn't always the case. I am grateful that I am able to be home with my girls each day and to get to enjoy this time of innocent childhood with them.

2 Months Old

 Adjusting to having two children has been a hard transition for me. Hence the reason Jenna's two month post and three month post are getting done in the same evening. She has many nicknames at our house; Jenna Roo, Baby J,  or just J. She is growing very quickly and enjoys learning to use her little body. She loves being in the bath, but cries when she has to get out and get dressed. Is starting to go to bed earlier. 7 p.m. is her ideal time. As soon as she hit the eight week mark she quit using the nipple shield for nursing. It was funny, one day she woke up and we tried nursing with the shield. She didn't like it so I took it off and from that time on she never used it again. The first several weeks of nursing with the shield were hard. She is doing much better at not puking or spitting up as much without it.I love watching her grow and am a bit relieved we are past the newborn stage. 

 She definitely likes Mama, and loves to snuggle all that she can. Hates tummy time, which is no bueno since she has developed a flat spot on her head. Wakes up a couple of times a night to eat. Is wearing 3-6 month clothes already and still has dark hair that fluffs very nicely after bath time. She weighed 13 lbs. 12 oz. at her 2 month appointment and was in the 97% for her height. 

She has the best smiles and is starting to coo and really engage in conversation with whoever talks to her. She seems to do pretty well with others holding her. She does well in short car rides and enjoys going for walks. We went to Ontario at the end of September and she was not a fan of the 6 hour drive. The drive back was pretty stressful for her. She isn't nearly as laid back as Natalie, but is still a pretty happy girl. She is a sweet baby who keeps us marching with meeting her expectations.

 12 Weeks old and sitting up in her bumbo surprisingly well!

 This little lady is a big girl! 90% for her weight and 97% for height. I love her so much and am so sad she is growing so quickly! I cried tonight looking at the 6-9 month clothes she will soon be in.

 Pancakes that I through together all from food storage! I was feeling rather accomplished that morning. We had gotten back late the night before from Ontario and had no milk and 1 egg. What do you do for breakfast? Duh, duh,duh! Food storage pancakes from scratch.

Aunt Mary

When Jenna was 2 weeks old my dear older sister Mary came for about 6 days to help out. 

It is always a blast and a relief to have her around to help out.

Natalie recently started calling one of her baby dolls Mary, in honor of her aunt.

A hike, more like a nature walk, we went on. Justin brought his remote control car.

Visiting OMSI. I scored a good deal on a year long family pass. So glad I did. The kid section is pretty darn fun.

"What happens when you get a sister!" 

We kicked off another week without Daddy today. 

Thankfully Natalie was in a pleasant mood and Jenna is doing well with self soothing to sleep.

I have really been enjoying "Ponderizing" scriptures. This weeks is a couple of paragraphs from the "Living Christ" as I am trying to memorize that before Christmas.

Filling my life with more good is so necessary right now, and I am so grateful I was able to get that counsel in General Conference.

I also scrubbed a couple of bathrooms tonight, so I would say we are on a good roll for the week.

I have been reading the book "The Power of Everyday Missionaries" by Clayton Christensen. What a great read and call to repentance. He really clarifies the 'how' of doing missionary work in our every day lives.

I hope that I can step up and be better about following this commandment in my day to day life.

Natalie's Halloween costume arrived today. I cannot wait to see her in it! 

As this picture shows, she is obsessed with all things princess and her Halloween costume definitely fits this stage. 

She has recently added these sayings to her daily conversation, 

When she see's us playing a tickling game with Jenna, "Can I get a turn?"

When asking her a question about doing something, "I would LOVE to."

When sitting in her room looking at her Doctrine and Covenant Reader, "I just reading about "Jophes Smiff."

 

Also, I was declared cavity free at the dentist today. That is always great news.
